Love this spot for their lunch special! You're able to choose a drink, appetizer, and entrée for $32, including during the weekends! I tried the vietnamese iced coffee, duck egg rolls, and cha ca fish noodle bowl. The iced coffee was STRONG and came topped with a salty duck egg crema, which added a unique twist to an already delicious drink. The duck egg rolls were piping hot and perfectly crispy. I've had cha ca once before and this was such a great version, with a generous portion of fried fish on top. I love the freshness of the dill and added texture from the giant shrimp chip. The staff was so nice and accommodating for our large group. Recommend making a reservation during the weekend - it was pretty packed around lunchtime on a Sunday!
Delicious Vietnamese place in inner sunset! Quickly seated for 2 on a weeknight. Lovely ambiance for a date! Ordered one app, three entrees for two. Definitely too much food but all yummy. Beef carpaccio was a HIT! Order it if you're into bone marrow and raw beef. So delicious Garlic noodles was a huge entree and tasted lowkey like chow mein. Fried fish was delicious and flakey. Cocktails probably wouldn't order again. Would recommend and visit again! On the pricier end $220/2 people, albeit we did over order and had a 1/2 meal of leftovers the next day!
Creative and well appreciated spin on traditional Vietnamese food. Highly recommend the French dip pho no bahn mi, it's delicious and gigantic. The roast beef and pate is amazing and the dipping soup is delicious. The tumeric fried fish with rice noodles is really flaky and flavorful, also generous portions. The strawberry sihn to is fresh and not very sweet which I love. We still haven't tried their set menu even though I'm 100% sure it's good value, it's so much food tho!
Food is interesting kinda Vietnamese fusion, I try the lunch set menu and it's was okay. Service is great Ambiance is nice and modern I give 4 stars for service and ambience
Back for more Lily experience on Mother's Day and really enjoyed a special set meal with my daughter. The ambiance, the service and the food are all on point, thanks to Robert, the chef that cares about the process from start to finish!
Came to Lily for lunch during sf restaurant week; for $40 you get a drink, app, and entree. We had made a reservation, and while there were plenty of reservations available online just an hour or so before, it was super busy and packed inside when we arrived. Would definitely suggest reserving a table ahead of time. It was definitely a little crowded and tight inside, but the booth was comfy. Drinks: the Saigon iced tea was good but not too memorable - a little minty, a little fruity, a little tea-y, and fun to snack on the lychee and jujube. The preserved lime sinh to on the other hand was pretty distinctive, surprisingly saltier than I was expecting and not as tart as I was hoping but it mellows out as it melts, or perhaps in comparison to the unami and salt of the dishes. It's reminiscent of umeboshi and a salted lassi. Interesting, but maybe not my favorite. Apps: beef pho was flavorful, warming, had a tender piece of beef, and I liked the generous amount of green onion. Calamari was more chewy and tapioca/mochi-ish breading so if you're expecting crunchy this isn't it. Overall liked the calamari more with the siracha mayo and sprouts on top and cucumber+pineapple below since it was more interesting than the pho. Entrees: I got the #1 bbw broken rice plate, and it was surprisingly more proteins than expected, and I actually wish there was more veggie and rice to balance it out. I liked that it came with a little bowl of pho broth to sip on, and the most memorable protein was the chicken, which was moist and had a crispy (furikake?) coated skin, but the pork skewers was also flavorful and tender. The carrot and daikon were strangely only lightly pickled and bordered more on just plain raw, which was unexpected. I also tried a bit of the lemongrass clams and mussels and the broth was a nice light fragrant soup, and there seemed to be a generous amount of clam and mussels, but I feel like a thicker or wider noodle than the instant noodle used would match the broth better. Overall this was a nice reason to try out Lily, but I'm not sure I could justify coming out without a special occasion to celebrate. The food is all good, but nothing was outstanding or memorable enough for me to want to come back for specifically. Regardless everything was beautiful and I'd love to come try some other dishes another time.
Had an amazing takeout experience with Lily! (Note for takeout: they only have select items available and not the whole menu, which was a bummer) The Vegetarian Chow Fun - 4.5/5 Gave the "blanket" that warm comfort food brings sans all of the heaviness. Only complaint was that the sauce was maybe a little salty. Shaking Filet of Beef Salad - 6/5 sooo good. The shaking beef blew my mind, and the balance between the different flavors was perfection Perfect thing to order if you want to add some vegetables in the mix but also indulge in Thai flavors. Everything was thoughtfully packaged for takeout as well. If my takeout was this good, I can't wait to go back for an in-house dining experience and try the rest of the menu!
Really busy and popular dinner spot in the Inner Richmond, my friend and I came here for SF Restaurant Week at the end of 2023. We were both unsure of what to expect after a hit or miss experience earlier that week at a few participating SF Restaurant Week businesses but were pleasantly surprised with our entire three-course pre-fixe meal there. Nothing disappointed, I don't even know where or what dish to begin with. First off, we were seated at the bar, which gave us a nice view of the prep work and cooking magic happening with the kitchen staff on that busy weekday night, and we were able to better decide on what to order for our three courses based on the raw ingredients and finishing touches placed on each of the dishes being prepared behind the counter. My friend and I really enjoyed the Bone Marrow starter, we were pleasantly surprised by what a generous helping of bone marrow and just how large the entire bone had been when it came out. It was extremely rich and oily, so we already felt quite full from splitting the appetizers. The entrees were both amazing, we split the Catfish and Braised Oxtail in Hue Style. By far, the Braised Oxtail was my favorite and paired well with the Bone Marrow appetizer. For dessert, we tried the Crème Brûlée and Baked Banana Pudding, both were also delightful. My personal preference is the Banana Pudding as it was nicely complimented by the miso caramel sauce and dollop of fresh vanilla ice cream on top. Although we didn't order drinks, the cocktails menu looked very unique and something worth trying the next time I go back. Would recommend this Vietnamese fusion business to anyone who wants a delicious and creative twist to traditional Vietnamese food!
